2/2 Where people only have access to the last 15 years of films, music or books? Or even being generous, 30 years? It would worsen the discourse and appreciation significantly. I think the industry should work on the things you suggest as a way of better cultivating their audience.

1/2 Good show guys, thanks! It got me thinking: supposedly the video games industry is worth more than all the other forms of entertainment combined (or something to that effect). So the global consumer base for video games is bigger than ever before, yet the majority of those people will be fairly illiterate in terms of knowing the history of that medium. Can you imagine a similar scenario in the world of music, film or literature?
